Work on the ground floor of the property on the Strand, including the reception, restaurant, bar and tea room, has just started and is expected to be completed in the summer. The bedrooms will then be decorated, with completion expected by April 2020, with a view to position the hotel at the top of the capital's four-star offer. Trevillion Interiors is undertaking the design.
The new public spaces will operate as flexible lifestyle areas in which subtle Art Deco influences will be integrated into a contemporary design.
David MacRae, managing director of the Strand Palace, said: "One hundred and eight years in the making, this new chapter of the Strand Palace is immensely exciting and will truly reflect our grand name."
"Ever since we first opened our doors in 1909, the Strand Palace has put the guest experience at the forefront of all we do. The new ground floor, along with the new guestrooms is set to offer our guests the best experience possible right here in the heart of London."
Strand Palace is owned by property investment company L&R, headed by brothers Richard and Ian Livingstone. L&R also owns Cliveden House in Taplow, Berkshire; Chewton Glen, New Milton, Hampshire; and Lygon Arms, Broadway, Worcestershire; under its Iconic Luxury Hotels portfolio.
