Tributes paid to Stonegate property director Nick Rockell

Tributes have been paid to Stonegate Pub Company property director Nick Rockell, who passed away at the weekend.

Rockell, 50, who died on Sunday, led the property team through a number of successful acquisitions including the purchase of Ei Group, and played a significant role in the company's development since its formation in 2010.

The company said: "His immense knowledge and talent was matched by his professional approach and genuine kindness which earned him the respect of everyone within Stonegate as well as across the industry."

Stonegate's chairman Ian Payne MBE added: "I worked with Nick for over 17 years, within both Laurel and Stonegate, and was extremely proud to have seen him rise to property director during that time. His hard work, dedication and commitment helped shape Stonegate to be the company it is today. He was one of my most respected and trusted colleagues."

He said that Rockell's loss would be felt "far and wide" and that his thoughts were with his wife Lisa and his two sons.
