Stevie Parle hopes to bring Joy back to Portobello Dock

Stevie Parle has said he hopes to reopen his Joy at Portobello restaurant, retail space and music venue at London’s Portobello Dock this summer.

The chef launched Joy in partnership with designer Tom Dixon summer 2020 but had to vacate the space to make way for another operator in 2021.

Posting on Instagram, Parle wrote that he was “working on bringing [Joy] home again”.

He said: “The site has been empty since we left and we might be able to get it back on a proper long term lease. We’re discussing it with the current leaseholder and new landlord. More Joy for summer ‘23?”

Joy briefly returned in a temporary home on Marylebone High Street during summer 2021 and also ran a pop-up at Sotheby's.

Parle opened his first restaurant, Dock Kitchen, at Portobello Dock in 2009 when he was just 24 years old. It traded for eight years until it closed in 2017.
