Travel caterer SSP has opened a restaurant and bar concept in Belfast International Airport as part of a £2.5m investment plan for the travel hub's outlets.
The new restaurant, called Sip & Stone, opened at the beginning of this month. It features a menu focused on local dishes, recipes and ingredients, including steaks, burgers, sausages and bacon.
An in-house bakery offers a variety of freshly baked cakes and muffins, along with grab-and-go sandwiches and freshly ground barista coffee.
Premium spirits, wines and international beers, both on draft and in bottles, are available from the bar.
Simon Smith, chief executive of SSP UK and Ireland said: "SSP has innovated this space from a traditional food village, to a modern concept, with an environment that is in tune with the needs of the aspirational customer. In the development, we've worked closely with the airport to underscore Belfast's culture and culinary traditions."
In August 2017 SSP, which operates most of the F&B units at the airport, announced it would invest in existing outlets such as the Lagan which has been extended to create an additional 100 covers, a total refurbishment of Starbucks and the transformation of the airport's Café Bar into a second Caffè Ritazza.
Graham Keddie, managing director at Belfast International Airport, said: "Belfast International Airport is in an exciting phase of growth with more than six million passengers expected to travel through the airport in 2018. It is essential to provide facilities that meet the growing needs of our leisure and business customers and we are pleased that SSP has invested in these new facilities. I'm sure passengers will enjoy sampling some iconic culinary delights that will be on offer at Sip & Stone."
SSP operates a portfolio of more than 450 international, national, and local brands Mash in Copenhagen, James Martin Kitchen in London and Hung's Delicacies in Hong Kong.
Its range also includes proprietary brands created for the travel sector including Upper Crust, Le Grand Comptoir and Ritazza, as well as international names such as Burger King, Starbucks, Hard Rock Café and YO! Sushi.
