Springboard is calling for teams to enter its annual trek, which this year is a virtual race to Nicaragua.
Since travel is off the cards, the charity, which helps unemployed people improve their career potential in hospitality and tourism, is asking teams to cycle, walk, run or push the 5,300 miles from the UK to Nicaragua on home soil in May.
Teams of up to 30 can take part, which breaks the challenge down to just under 177 miles per person, or around six miles a day.
Springboard marketing and events partner Amy-Jane Cahalane said: “Each year we take a group from the hospitality industry overseas on a trek to raise vital funds for Springboard and support a local community outreach programme. Our 2020 trek to Nicaragua was disappointingly put on hold, but we’re taking the opportunity to get even more of the industry involved and raise money to help futureproof the talent pipeline for hospitality.”
Participating teams will use the My Virtual Mission platform to collectively track their progress.
Registration is £10 per person and teams must pledge to raise £3,000 for Springboard.
