The five-year contract is valued around £185m.
Sodexo has announced it will be working with East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust’s to deliver the Trust’s soft facilities management services.
The new partnership will see the management services company work across the Trust’s two acute hospitals – Colchester and Ipswich – and community services in East Suffolk and North Essex. The services include catering, housekeeping, cleaning, portering, and security.
The five-year contract with the Trust, which is the largest NHS organisation in East Anglia, employing more than 11,000 staff, is worth around £185m.
It is scheduled to begin in April 2025 and will run for five years.
Philip Leigh, CEO for Sodexo Health & Care, UK & Ireland said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. We are committed to supporting the Trust’s priorities and collaborating with them to enhance environments and experiences for patients, staff and the local community.”
Nick Hulme, chief executive of East Suffolk & North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, added the “partnership with Sodexo will help us to ensure the high standards of care and experience which patients and local people rightly expect”.
The decision to appoint Sodexo was as a result of a decision the Trust Board made in spring of this year to review how soft facilities management services are provided across the organisation. The management services company has been appointed preferred bidder, which is the final stage before a contract is signed, following the Trust Board’s decision to contract all soft facilities management services to an external partner.
Sodexo first partnered with the NHS in 1997 and now works alongside health and care organisations at over 100 locations across the UK.
