Six by Nico Liverpool forced to temporarily close due to flooding

The Six by Nico restaurant in Liverpool has been forced to temporarily close due to flooding in the building it occupies.

The restaurant, which was opened in November 2019 by Scottish chef Nico Simeone, called in experts after repeatedly finding water in its basement.

This has been traced to the roof of the seven-storey building on North John Street, which also houses a number of apartments.

Discussions with the building’s landlords are ongoing but the restaurant said it has been forced to close while further investigations and remedial work are carried out.

A spokesman for Six by Nico said: “It’s extremely disappointing that we’ve had to take this decision, but the problems caused by water leaking into the basement mean we had no option.

“We are in the process of contacting our customers to let them know about the closure and will inform them as soon as we know when we can reopen.

“We have been in discussions with the landlord and have asked them to address the problem urgently so that we can reopen as soon as possible.

“We don’t yet have a definitive timetable, but we appreciate it’s hugely frustrating for everyone, including our staff and we are very keen to get the issue resolved so that we can get back to serving the people of Liverpool.”

The Six by Nico brand was founded in Finnieston, Scotland in 2017 and offers themed six-course tasting menus for £37 with an optional £30 wine pairing. It has since expanded to nine restaurants across the UK.
