Simon Rogan and Fell Brewery’s courgette and mint gose

Simon Rogan has worked alongside brewers from Fell Brewery, Flookburgh, to craft a courgette and mint gose, using surplus produce grown on Rogan’s Our Farm near Cartmel in the Lake District. Gose beers have an salty and sour flavour profile and a low abv (3% in this case), meaning they are more versatile for carrying unconventional ingredients such as fresh herbs. The refreshing palate cleanser makes use of a malt base and fermented courgette juice, spritzed up with salt and pineapple mint. The beer has a light finish with a lingering freshness.

Price 12 x 440ml cans, £22.50

Iconic US snack brand hits the UK

American brand Cheez-It from Kellanova (formerly Kellogg’s) is debuting in the UK this summer. The crispy snack is baked with ‘100% real cheese’ and made from wheat, corn and potatoes. The recipe has been tweaked for European tastebuds, with a proprietary baking method making the bites extra thin and crispy. The UK range will include two flavours – cheese and chilli and double cheese – and will be available in 40g packs.

Price 40g bag, £1.09

Light lager for summer sipping

Pillars Brewery has launched Lite Lager, a bright, light lager to please all palates. Brewed in the heart of east London, the lager is aimed to be subtle, clean and crisp. It is designed for summer sipping, with a modest 2.8% abv. Pillars’ Lite Lager is crafted using flaked, torrefied corn and noble hops for a fresh, mildly bitter finish.

Trade price 30 litre keg, £87

Crisps that pair perfectly with Sauvignon Blanc

Made for Drink has created two crisp flavours, pickled onion and chilli and lemon, to pair with New Zealand wine brand Brancott Estate’s Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs. The pickled onion crisps pair with Brancott Classic Sauvignon Blanc, as the acidity of the pickling spices and onions balances out the acidity of the Sauvignon Blanc. Meanwhile, the chilli and lemon flavour is designed to accompany Flight Sauvignon Blanc, with the fresh lemon in the crisps complementing the citrusy aromas of Brancott Estate’s lower abv (9%) variety, without obscuring the tropical ripe fruit flavours.

Price Case of 4 x 125g bags, £6.69

Fruity wheat beers bring colour to summer

Belgian independent brewer Haacht has introduced fruit-flavoured beers Super 8 Cherry and Super 8 Peach. Both beers are part of Haacht’s Super 8 modern Belgian craft brew range, now available in the UK. Super 8 Cherry is a 3.4% abv wheat beer blended with 25% cherry juice, available in 20 litre kegs and 330ml bottles, while Super 8 Peach is a 3.7% abv wheat beer made with 25% peach juice, available in 20 litre kegs. Cherry is brewed to be rich and refreshing, while peach is light and fruity.

Price Case of 24 x 330ml bottles, £35-£45
