Sheffield United is set to relaunch its stadium hotel as a DoubleTree by Hilton in partnership with Leaf Hospitality.
Plans for the redevelopment of the hotel at Bramall Lane into a 155-bedroom property with a penthouse suite, fitness centre and events space for up to 300 guests were approved by owner Prince Abdullah and the Sheffield United board of directors.
The DoubleTree by Hilton brand takes over from Millennium & Copthorne, which managed the hotel between 2006 and 2020.
The new project is due to open in summer 2024 and is expected to create 100 jobs.
Stephen Bettis, chief executive of Sheffield United, said: “We are thrilled to welcome DoubleTree by Hilton to our prestigious and historic Bramall Lane stadium.
"This new addition will further enhance the matchday experience for our supporters and contribute to the ongoing development of the S2 area. The return of the hotel is welcomed by everyone at the Football Club.”
Richard Farrar, managing director of Leaf Hospitality, added: “We are delighted to embark on this exciting project at Bramall Lane on behalf of the club. The DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield City conversion will elevate the hospitality experience for visitors and fans alike. This is a really special project and we're delighted to kick off.”
Once complete, DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield City will mark the third Hilton hotel in the area, joining DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield Park and Hampton by Hilton Sheffield.
