US brands Shake Shack and Wingstop have pulled out of Boxpark Wembley ahead of the site's opening at the end of the year.
The two fast food vendors, who are looking to gain a foothold in the British market, were missing from the latest announcement for the soon-to-open alternative food and shopping outlet. A spokesman for Boxpark confirmed to The Caterer the two companies had walked away from the project.
Both Wingstop and Shake Shack have not responded to requests for comment.
The latest incarnation of the Boxpark empire, which operates in Shoreditch and Croydon, is due to open on 1 December.
Confirmed vendors will include Zia Lucia, GialloGrano, Kabab, Spice Shack, The Athenian, Ugly Dumpling and Thai Express.
The venture is expected to attract footfall from visitors to the area attending sports and music events at the nearby stadium.
Announcing the new vendors, founder and CEO of Boxpark, Roger Wade said: âBoxpark Wembley will create the ultimate fan experience for anyone watching a match or seeing a concert in one of the world-renowned venues weâll have on our doorstep.
âYou can expect a diverse selection of fantastic food vendors, from delicious local favourites to established Boxpark staples, and the electric atmosphere that Boxpark has become synonymous with.â
