The former Beaumont hotel manager takes over from Ian Richardson, who opened the Chelsea Townhouse in September 2023.
Samantha Rieu has been appointed general manager of Iconic Luxury Hotels’ 11 Cadogan Gardens and the Chelsea Townhouse in London’s Chelsea.
She joins from the Beaumont hotel in London’s Mayfair, where she was hotel manager.
Rieu will be overseeing the Cadogan Gardens Collection, which is formed of the only two Relais & Châteaux hotels in London.
She has been in the industry for the past 25 years, having also held roles at Dukes London, the Fairmont Boston, the Savoy in London, Mandarin Oriental London, Harvey Nichols and WSH-BaxterStorey.
Andrew Stembridge, executive director of Iconic Luxury Hotels, said: “We are delighted to welcome Samantha to the Iconic Luxury Hotels’ family. She is a dedicated and innovative hotel professional and with her proven track record of business development, client relationship management and strategic planning, she is already a great asset to our team.”
Rieu added: “I look forward to continuing the great work that has been done, and I am honoured to join a team dedicated to delivering exceptional hospitality to every one of our guests, providing a home away from home in these two iconic luxurious retreats in the heart of London.”
The Chelsea Townhouse opened in September 2023 as the boutique hotel group’s third London property under general manager Ian Richardson, who recently moved to the Cadogan, a Belmond hotel, as interim general manager.
Richardson first joined Iconic as general manager of 11 Cadogan Gardens in June 2020.
Iconic Luxury Hotels was founded in 2016 and includes properties such as Chewton Glen in Hampshire, Cliveden House in Berkshire, and the Lygon Arms in the Cotswolds.
