Dormy House chef to join Llangoed Hall

Sam Bowser, former head chef at Dormy House hotel, has been appointed head chef at Llangoed Hall in Llyswen, Powys.

Bowser is set to join the four-red-AA-starred, 23-bedroom country house hotel, which has a three-AA-rosette restaurant, from the four-red-AA-starred, 38-bedroom Dormy House in Broadway, Worcestershire, which is part of the Farncombe Estate.

He replaces Nick Brodie, who has joined the Felin Fach Griffin in nearby Brecon after six years at Llangoed Hall. Bowser spent the last two and a half years at Dormy House under Martin Burge, where he most recently launched MO, a new concept restaurant.

He has also previously worked as head chef at Whatley Manor in Malmesbury, Wiltshire under Burge, as well as a senior sous chef at the Arts Club in London and junior sous chef at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Great Milton, Oxfordshire.

Bowser said: “I’m really looking forward to starting my new role at Llangoed Hall. I can’t wait to get stuck in and put my own stamp on the offering. The opportunity to work at this award-winning restaurant in a stunning location is one I couldn’t pass up to showcase modern British food that I’m passionate about.”

Sergio Martinez, general manager of Llangoed Hall Hotel, said: “We’re so excited to be welcoming Sam to the team this month. We know that he will work hard to create something truly unique that will really put us on the map and encourage diners from near and far. Sam has already been working on the new menu and I’m looking forward for everyone to see what he does with our offering.”
