Royal Lancaster London reveals £80m redesign

The newly renamed Royal Lancaster London overlooking Hyde Park will unveil its £80m, two-year redesign next week.

The opening of the 411-bedroom, four-AA-star hotel's new entrance, featuring an 8m glazed façade and sweeping white Carrara marble staircase, will complete the majority of the property's new look and mark the renaming of the property.

Originally opened in 1967 as the Royal Lancaster, the hotel changed its name to the Lancaster London in 2009 to reflect is location in the centre of the capital.

It has now reverted to its original name in celebration of its 50th anniversary year.

Overseen by London-based Studio Proof, the redesign has also had input from the hotel's Thai owner Khun Jatuporn Sihanatkathakul.

The new look includes the creation of the Hyde Lobby Bar, redesign of the Nipa Thai restaurant, and refurbishment of 16 event spaces and all bedrooms. The the final element of the refurbishment will be a soft re-design of the Lounge Bar and the Park Room next year.
