Robin Hutson scoops Outstanding Contribution Award at Independent Hotel Show

Founder of the Pig brand of hotels Robin Hutson was honoured at the Independent Hotel Show last night by being presented with the Outstanding Contribution Award for the exceptional impact he has had on the UK hospitality industry.

Held at London’s Olympia, the award was the culmination of a series of accolade presented at the end of the first day of the two-day show.

It was the first time in the eight years of the show that the Outstanding Contribution Award had been made, but was one that the judging panel of hotel industry experts was deemed to be fitting for the significant role Hutson has had on the sector through the creation of Hotel du Vin du Vin, Lime Wood and the Pig collection of six hotels.

Hutson said he was "thrilled" to win the award. "Of course it’s a big team effort so really I’m accepting it on behalf of everyone.”

The other award winners were:

• Hotel Innovation Award – Whatley Manor, Malmesbury, Wiltshire
• General Manager of the Future – Samantha Rieu, Dukes London (Tamsyn Mann of Calcot, Tetbury, Gloucestershire, was named as “one to watch”)
• Independent Hotelier of the Year – Paula Ellis of Twr y Felin, Roch Castle and Penrhiw Priory, St Davids, Pembrokeshire
