Robert Homer has been named head chef at Tom Sellers’ Story Cellar in London’s Covent Garden, replacing opening head chef Stephen Naylor who has joined Restaurant Gordon Ramsay.

Rotisserie chicken restaurant Story Cellar launched last year and was swiftly added to the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland.

It also serves dishes such as snail bolognese on toast with parsley butter, dry aged pork chop and brandy pickled dates and BBQ coley with borlotti beans, romesco, tomato and chorizo.

Homer has been working with Sellers for the past 18 months, having joined Dovetale at 1 Hotel Mayfair, which launched in July last year.

Born and bred in east London, the chef started his career at Brown’s hotel in Mayfair at Restaurant 1837. From there, he moved onto a sous chef role at the Lansdowne Private Members Club in London.

His first head chef position was at the now-closed Canvas restaurant in London’s Chelsea in 2016. The following year, he was made head chef of the Hour Glass pub in London’s South Kensington.

He has also worked for the likes of Hotel Café Royal on London’s Regent Street and the Landau restaurant in the Langham, London.

Homer said: “I am excited for the new venture at Story Cellar. It’s quite different to Dovetale as the kitchen is much smaller and the menu much more concise. I’m looking forward to working with a strong and inspiring team in the heart of London and just cooking good, honest, tasty food.”

Sellers added: “Appointing Robert as head chef is an exciting moment for Story Cellar. He is a great chef and I’m confident he will be brilliant at leading the kitchen at Story Cellar.”
