Red Carnation’s 100 Princes Street hotel to open April 2022

Red Carnation Hotels is set to open its first property in Scotland at Edinburgh’s 100 Princes Street in April 2022.

The design of the hotel has been led by Toni Tollman, Philippe Bonino and Brian Brennan and draws inspiration from the site's history as the former home of the Royal Over-Seas League club and the explorers and adventurers who were members.

Inspired by designer Alexander McQueen, the team has worked with local artisans to create bespoke pieces including custom-made tartan designed by Araminta Campbell and a central staircase with a mural hand-painted by Croxford & Saunders, honouring the adventures of several Scottish explorers.

The luxury hotel, part of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection and sister property to Hotel 41 in London, will have 30 guest rooms and suites, many with views towards Edinburgh Castle, as well as a residents-only Explorers’ Club.

The venue will feature a wine wall with over 200 fine wines, showcasing the range of the family-owned vineyard Bouchard Finlayson in South Africa, as well as a wall of Scottish whiskies. The hotel will have a 2:1 staff to guest ratio and rates will start from £295.

The Tollman family-owned and run Red Carnation Hotels has 18 properties across the UK, Guernsey, Ireland, the US, Geneva, Botswana and South Africa, including the Milestone, Rubens at the Palace, Montague on the Gardens, Egerton House and the Chesterfield Mayfair hotels in London; Summer Lodge in Evershot, Dorset; the Duke of Richmond and Old Government House in Guernsey; and Ashford Castle and Hatch Hall in Ireland.
