The Caterer's Product Excellence Awards, due to take place in December this year, have been postponed until 2021 because of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in the UK.
Organised in association with global hospitality management operator Delaware North and hospitality trade show organiser Montgomery Group, the awards, which recognise excellence and innovation in food, drink and equipment across the sector, offer suppliers the opportunity to promote their products to operators across the UK and are judged by panels of industry experts.
Re-launched in 2014, the PEAs were created to provide a stage for the marketing of these products and celebrate the creativity, responsibility, sustainability and originality of suppliers to the hospitality industry.
“Like the UK’s restaurants, hotels, pubs and bars, suppliers to the industry have also been heavily affected by the Coronavirus pandemic in the UK, with producers, manufacturers and suppliers seeing their supply-chains dry up overnight,” said Lisa Jenkins, products and suppliers editor of The Caterer.
“It would not be right to put added pressure on these suppliers this year – but we will continue to support them by including them in our new product coverage and supplier content online and in print until we re-open entries for the PEAs early in 2021.”
Previous winners of the PEAs have included Jestic; Café de Nata; Franke Coffee Systems; The Brew It Group; Belazu Ingredient Company; Eurilait; Traiteur de Paris; Robot Coupe; Direct Seafoods; Winterhalter; Coca-Cola European Partners; Bidfood; Syft and Meiko
