Hospitality apprentices among first to be accepted onto Post Apprenticeship Recognition Scheme

Umbrella Training is among the hospitality apprenticeship providers to have been accepted onto the new Post Apprenticeship Recognition Scheme, which enables apprentices to better promote their qualifications.

The scheme has been launched by the Chartered Institute for Further Education in collaboration with the Association of Apprentices.

It allows students to use post-nominals such as CHA to represent a Certificate of Higher Apprenticeship and CGA for Certificate of Graduate Apprenticeship, with the aim of acknowledging the skills earned and the value of the programmes.

Two apprentices from Umbrella Training are among the first 16 to be recognised. They are Marshall Bax, assistant restaurant manager from the Pig at Bridge Place, who is a CAA (the Certificate of Advanced Apprenticeship) and Zakaria Bentaleb, an Umbrella junior director, who has been awarded the Certificate of Higher Apprenticeship (CHA).

Umbrella Training chief executive Adele Oxberry said: "This initiative highlights the significance of apprenticeships in nurturing talent and fostering essential skills for our industry.

"The recognition received by our apprentices underscores the dedication of both the apprentices and their employers to advancing their careers and contributing to the growth of the hospitality sector."

Home Grown Hotels people director Steve Rockey added: “This accreditation is crucial for both the hospitality industry and our business as it highlights the value of apprenticeships in developing the skills and talents essential for success in our sector."
