Plas Glynllifon and Seiont Manor to be sold out of receivership

Plas Glynllifon and Seiont Manor in Caernarfon have both been brought to market after falling into receivership, with guide prices of £2m and £1.5m, respectively.

Fleurets has been instructed by joint LPA fixed charge receivers James Liddiment and Paul Greenhalgh, c/o Duff & Phelps, to market the two properties, which were owned by Paul and Rowena Williams.

Seiont Manor, situated at the foot of Mount Snowdon, was an 18th century farmstead and until January 2020 operated as a 28-bedroom hotel. The property also has a 40-foot indoor swimming pool, Llwyn y Brain restaurant and a conservatory brasserie.

The property was owned by Hand Picked Hotels for 17 years until it was sold for £1.34m in December 2016.

Plas Glynllifon is a Grade I-listed building, previously belonging to Lord Newborough. Following a fire in 1836, the estate was rebuilt between 1836-48. The property is mid-way through a renovation, however has not yet been traded as a hotel and is in a state of disrepair. The Williams’ had intended to relaunch the property as a luxury hotel with approximately 42 bedrooms this year following a multimillion-pound refurbishment.

The couple bought the property in 2016; it had previously fallen into receivership under former owners in 2013.

Lesley Watmough and Ian Taylor of Fleurets said: “Plas Glynllifon is an impressive structure with 42 bedrooms and set in approximately 16 acres with extensive gardens and woodland. It is partway through a restoration and renovation, therefore many areas are still semi-derelict. Both properties are to be sold by the joint LPA fixed charge receivers and therefore there is only limited information available.”
