Plans submitted to expand Sir Andy Murray's Cromlix hotel

Sir Andy Murray's Cromlix hotel has submitted expansion plans, including a gym designed by the double Wimbledon tennis champion, to Stirling Council.

The Caterer reported on the plans to expand the five-AA-star, 15-bedroom country house hotel in Dunblane, Perthshire in January last year.

The plans are still materially the same, involving transforming the dilapidated walled garden and glass houses into a conference and wedding hall for up to 200 guests; with 27, rather than 30, additional bedrooms; spa treatment rooms; and a gym.

The new facility will also boast a breakfast and afternoon tea area overseen by chef Albert Roux as part of the existing Chez Roux restaurant.

Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI), which manages the hotel on behalf of the Murrays, still expects the development to create 40 new jobs. If approved the new facilities will open in autumn 2020.

Graeme Green, general manager at Cromlix, said: "We receive hundreds of calls from event organisers, couples hoping to get married at Cromlix and, sadly, we have to turn most away. This new development means we can meet this demand while continuing to welcome hotel and restaurant guests all year round."

Cromlix hotel is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World marketing consortium. As well as Cromlix, ICMI manages 12 independent properties around Scotland and the Caribbean, including Crossbasket Castle in Glasgow, and Inverlochy Castle in the Highlands.
