Plans for second Manchester Malmaison submitted

Plans have been submitted to transform a vacant office block in Manchester into the city's second Malmaison hotel.

Greenlane Properties has applied to turn Pearl Assurance House, currently a vacant office block with a ground floor pop-up shop and café, into a 70-bedroom Malmaison, joining the group's Malmaison on Piccadilly.

The plans include a seven-storey extension to the rear of the site and an extension to the roof to create a rooftop bar. The property would also have a bar and ground-floor bistro.

There are 15 Malmaison hotels operating in the UK. The group was sold along with sister brand Hotel du Vin to Frasers Hospitality UK Holdings for £363.4m in 2015 by US-based private equity firm KSL Capital Partners.
