Petersham Nurseries and the Gallivant hotel recognised at SRA awards

Petersham Nurseries and the Gallivant hotel are among the businesses recognised by the Sustainable Restaurant Association's (SRA) Food Made Good Awards.

Recognised today at Lindley Hall in London, Petersham Nurseries in Richmond, Surrey, was praised for its innovative approach to flipping the menu and serving more vegetables. Meanwhile, the Gallivant in Camber, East Sussex, won Celebrate Local award for the business making the very most of the larder on its doorstep.

The Food Made Good business of the year award went to Danish restaurant Bæst, run by Christain Puglisi's. The Copenhagen restaurant, and its sister bakery Mirabelle, are certified organic and source much of their produce from their own farm. Pizzas served feature fruit and vegetables from the farm, while mozzarella is made fresh in-house.

Henry Dimbleby and John Vincent took the Raymond Blanc Sustainability Hero Award for their transformative School Food Plan and their dedication to bringing healthy fast food to the high street through their Leon group.

Raymond Blanc said: "The Food Made Good Awards are so critical, recognising the work and commitment of individuals and organisations responsible for bringing new ethics to our food production, and sharing those values in our kitchens and with consumers.

"The awards truly remind us why we are so proud to work in this industry. Food and its production touches every part of our lives; it will define the society and communities of tomorrow, as well as our health and the health of the planet. Each and every one of the winners have demonstrated food's huge potential as a force for good. I am honoured to play some part in rewarding their significant achievements."
