Peter Sanchez-Iglesias to open Casa in November

Chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias is to open Casa, an Italian restaurant, in the former site of his Michelin-starred Casamia in Bristol on 16 November.

The 66-cover venue resides in a listed, former hospital and will reimagine his parents’ restaurant, Casamia, which first launched in 1999.

Sanchez-Iglesias started working there aged 16; in 2009, he and his brother led the restaurant to its first Michelin star.

His latest menu offering will focus on contemporary and traditional Italian cooking. It was curated by Sanchez-Iglesias and executive chef Joel Breakwell, who also led the kitchen at Sanchez-Iglesias’ Paco Tapas, located next door to Casa.

Dishes will include fried semolina with parmesan and prawn crudo; potato ravioli with Lion’s Mane mushroom ragu; cabbage with pancetta and tiramisu. Some, like the potato ravioli, are a revival of signature Casamia plates.

Casa will also be supported by head chef Alex Brownrigg, restaurant manager James Stavert, who was previously at Paco, and former Casamia sommelier Tom Lakin.

The restaurant will be open for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays and dinner between Wednesdays and Saturdays.
