Pride of Britain Hotels chief executive Peter Hancock was recognised for his outstanding contribution to the hospitality industry last night at the Institute of Hospitality Awards 2019.
More than 320 hospitality professionals came together at the Waldorf Hilton London to celebrate the very best in people development at the Institute's annual dinner and award ceremony.
The winners included:
• Best Student Placement of the Year: Evolve Hospitality
• Best Graduate Scheme of the Year: Red Carnation Hotels
• Talent Development Team of the Year: PPHE Group
• Outstanding Contribution to the Industry: Peter Hancock FIH
• Judges' Special Achievement Award: Adam Handling, the Frog
Organisations highly commended by the judges also included Red Carnation for Best Student Placement, Hilton London Bankside for Best Graduate Scheme and Z Hotels for its Talent Development Team.
Peter Ducker, chief executive of the Institute of Hospitality, said: "Our industry is blessed with many people who give so much back to it in so many ways. Our outstanding contribution to the industry award enables us to recognise and applaud those special people. The whole room cheered when Peter Hancock was presented the award. One guest, who shall be nameless, said it was worth attending just to see Peter speechless for a moment!

Judges this year included Bev King, chief executive of Z Hotels; hospitality consultant Ama Ampofo; and consultant Howard Field.
