Man charged with murder following death of woman at Pennyhill Park hotel

A 60-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection to an investigation launched following the death of a woman at Pennyhill Park hotel in Surrey.

Officers were called to the hotel at 8.43am on 14 April by South East Coast Ambulance Service after the discovery of the body of a woman in her fifties.

James Cartwright of West Street in Axminster was arrested on the same day and has now been charged with murder and controlling and coercive behaviour.

He has been remanded in police custody and will appear at Guildford Magistrates Court today (Monday 22 April).

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation have been asked to get in touch with Surrey Police, quoting PR/45240041581.

Those who do not wish to speak to police but have information have been advised to call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Pennyhill Park was one of the first properties to join the Exclusive Collection in 1981.
