Paul Brackley steps down as London's Shangri-La GM

Paul Brackley has stepped down as general manager of the five-red-AA-star, 202-bedroom Shangri-La Hotel, at the Shard, in London, "to pursue other opportunities".

He arrived at the hotel in July 2016 having previously been the opening managing director of the Beaumont hotel in Mayfair.

A spokesperson for Shangi-La said of Brackley's departure: "We appreciate the leadership he has brought, especially during times of crisis such as steering the hotel through the London Bridge terror attacks in June 2017. He has also done a lot to settle the hotel and improve its performance in several aspects after a challenging opening, including the attainment of five red stars from AA in September 2018, and the award of a five star designation by Forbes Travel Guide in January 2019.

"During Paul's tenure, the hotel's TripAdvisor ranking has been substantially improved, the gross operating profit has been increased significantly and the staff turnover has been substantially reduced. Most importantly, Paul has built up and leaves behind a strong management team."
