Paul Bayliss appointed chair of Cheshire Hoteliers Association

Paul Bayliss, general manager of the four-AA-star, 196-bedroom Carden Park hotel in Broxton, Chester, has been appointed chair of Cheshire's Hoteliers Association.

Annie Brown, general manager of the Park Royal hotel in Warrington, has also been voted in as deputy chair.

Bayliss led Manchester's Hoteliers Association for two years between 2014 and 2016, during which time membership increased significantly, and he helped enhance the region's reputation on a national stage by speaking about tourism and hospitality in the Houses of Parliament during his tenure.

At the top of his agenda is recognition and rewarding Cheshire's hospitality workforce, and charity work. This year, the Association has introduced awards to its annual gala dinner, which will be held at Carden Park on 13 October, to recognise the efforts of members and local hospitality workers. The event will also be fundraising for industry charity Hospitality Action.

Bayliss said: "For me Cheshire is absolutely unique as it has some of the very best hotels and resorts large and small in the UK hospitality industry and a rare mix of city centre and country properties.

"This year as part of our commitment to our people we've introduced awards that we feel any general manager in Cheshire can access easily and nominate any member of their team for an award that marks them out as exceptional. People love to be told they're doing a great job or that their efforts are appreciated.

"I do hope by really getting the Association members enthused and engaged that it will grow."
