Layo and Zoë Paskin, founders of the Palomar restaurant in London Soho and the Barbary in Covent Garden, will open Jacob the Angel, an English coffee house in Covent Garden, next month.
The new site at 16 ½ Neal's Yard will serve breakfast, lunch and tea, including freshly-baked cakes, pastries and pies, sandwiches and salads as part of a daily changing, seasonal menu.
The offering will be largely takeaway as the site will have just 10 seats inside and three outside. The coffeehouse is named after an entrepreneur named Jacob who is believed to have opened the UK's first coffee house at the Angel Inn in Oxford in 1651.
The Paskins opened the Palomar in 2014, having previously run the End and AKA nightclubs, both in London, before opening the Barbary last year, a 24-cover site also in Neal's Yard, offering grilled and baked dishes "from the Barbary coast to Jerusalem".
