Hotel and restaurant consortium Relais & Châteaux has announced only one new UK member this year: Palé Hall.
The 18-bedroom property in Bala, Gwynedd, owned by Alan and Angela Harper, was one of 10 new members announced today. The hotel opened in September 2016 and is the only five-AA-star property in north Wales and was the first Welsh member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
Chef Michael Caines is a consultant on the hotel's food and beverage offering, overseen by head chef Gareth Stevenson.
It was announced just last week that Pim Wolfs, who has been general manager of the hotel since June 2016, is leaving the property to become general manager of Dormy House in Broadway, Worcester, and is being replaced by current hotel manager Harry Shepherd.
The other venues joining Relais & Châteaux announced today included: Quintessence hotel, Anguilla; Awasi Iguazú, Argentina; Hôtel Splendide Royal, Paris; Pastorale, Reet; Palais, Bad Ragaz, Switzerland; Chalet Hotel Schönegg, Zermatt; Epoque hotel, Bucharest; Hotel & Spa Le Doge, Morocco; and Ahilya By The Sea, Goa.
Created in 1954, Relais & Châteaux is a consortium of more than 560 independent hotels and restaurants across the world, 30 of which are in the UK.
