The Oyster Club in Birmingham reveals UK's first Mareno iChef cook suite

Chef-restaurateur Adam Stokes has unveiled images of the kitchen at his newest opening, the Oyster Club in Birmingham, which features the UK’s first Mareno iChef cook suite.

“I love fish and seafood and really wanted to bring a restaurant of this type to Birmingham,” said Stokes. “I also wanted to put in a unique cook suite, something special, something that was a bit new and a bit different, but also one that was as efficient as possible.”

“We were introduced to iChef by Grande Cuisine, who we worked with when creating the kitchen at my first restaurant, Adam’s. Initially I was a bit nervous as I knew we would be the first restaurant in the UK to have an iChef suite installed, but it has turned out to be a great decision.”

Stokes also explained that the suite features a Power Guardian system, which automatically reduces power usage if consumption nears the maximum load, which is essential at the Oyster Club.

“We have limited power coming into the building, and no gas. Service goes on for 10, 11, 12 hours of the day but obviously we have busy points at lunch and dinner, so our electrical consumption does fluctuate, and that's where Power Guardian really does help us.”
