Ottolenghi's Rovi closed temporarily by aircon problems

Yotam Ottolenghi's flagship London restaurant, Rovi, remains closed after problems with both the extraction and air conditioning.

The problems hit during the restaurant's second weekend after opening (on 21 June), with Ottolenghi taking to Twitter on Sunday to apologise for the issues.

Our extraction & air-con have both stopped working at ROVI! We've had to close the doors to fix the problem & we're hoping to open again soon. We'll keep you updated. We're sorry if you were hoping to come by, we'll do our best to look after you in our other restaurants.

The 85-cover venue features a large central grill within the restaurant, as well as a focus on cooking over fire.

A statement on Rovi's website reads: "Our extraction and air-con have both stopped working at Rovi. We've had to close to fix the problem and we're hoping to open again soon. We'll keep you updated. We're sorry if you were hoping to come by, we'll do our best to look after you in our other restaurants."

A spokesperson for Rovi said they were not sure at this stage when the restaurant would reopen.

Rovi (the name being a play on the site's location in Fitzrovia and Ottolenghi's Soho restaurant Nopi) maintains the roots of Ottolenghi's other restaurants but with a different look and feel.

As with Nopi, vegetables remain at the centre of the menu, supplied by small suppliers and farmers such as Brambletye in Sussex (supplying fruit and vegetables) and shellfish from the Ethical Shellfish Company.
