An operator is being sought to run a new hotel with up to 85 bedrooms that is expected to be developed within the Peak District National Park.
The hotel will have lots of facilities for families and guests who want to enjoy cycling and other outdoor activities in of the Peal District. There will also be the an opportunity to develop a strong food and beverage business alongside the hotel.
Helmsley Hospitality, a new company set up last year to develop a small group of boutique hotels, has been approached by the owners to find the operator.
Simon Kershaw, who runs Helmsley Hospitality with Simon Rhatigan, said that matching owners with operators will generally not be a key part of the new companyâs business.
âHowever, we were approached and were keen to help as it is very rare to see new hotels being developed within the national park,â he explained. âThe area is very under-bedded and the planners have indicated that they would be favourable to a planning application.â
The new hotel will be located on the site of the Rising Sun pub, now closed, near Bamford, Derbyshire. It is situated 18 minutes from stately home Chatsworth, House, 20 minutes from Sheffield and 40 minutes from Manchester.
If planning permission is granted, the hotel is expected to open in early 2019.
Kershaw, one-time chairman of the northern region of the British Hospitality Association, added that he and Rhatigan, who was previously managing director of Devonshire Hotels & Restaurants, are close to securing a site in North Yorkshire for Helmlsey Hospitality's first hotel.
