Oliver Maki's Soho restaurant closes ahead of move

Oliver Maki in Soho's Dean Street has closed, but the sushi restaurant is expected to open in a new London site soon.

In a message to customers CEO Joe Hajjali said: "As much as we love Soho, and as much as we have grown attached to this wonderfully buzzing place, we are sadly having to relocate our Michelin-listed restaurant Oliver Maki to a new home within Central London.

"Our two years and four months in Soho have been blessed with many wonderful memories, especially being listed in the Michelin Guide, and winning best loved restaurant in Soho and Covent Garden.

"We have met some amazing guests and catered to their affinity to innovative Japanese cuisine, and enjoyed them coming back for more of our creations. We have watched our matcha (green tea) tiramisu dessert garner more than two million views on a famous website, and have seen numerous social media posts admiring our sushi jewels and likening it to a "glass-house". We have enjoyed the London Pride parade with its colourful character and fun atmosphere.

"We leave this beautiful part of London to another anticipated site to embark on a new adventure. We shall keep you updated on the timeline for the new site opening. Until then, we thank you and thank all our fans who have made our mission that much more meaningful when we saw the smiles on their faces."

Oliver Maki opened its Soho restaurant, the first for the group in the UK, in 2016.

The concept was launched in Kuwait in 2004 by Canadian-Lebanese brothers Oliver and Amer Zeitoun.
