Olive Room chef launches restaurant crowdfunding campaign

Thomas Carr of the Michelin-starred Olive Room has launched a £15,000 crowdfunding campaign to open a second restaurant in Ilfracombe.

Carr opened his first restaurant in North Devon three years ago and won a Michelin star in 2016. He is now looking to open a second restaurant in the area.

Carr formerly worked as head chef at Restaurant Nathan Outlaw at the St Enodoc hotel in Cornwall, and he has also been executive chef at the Coach House by Michael Caines at the Kentisbury Grange hotel near Barnstaple.

Carr, his brother Kevin and friend Richard Evans plan to open and launch a seafood and grill restaurant on the site of the Lamb hotel on Ilfracombe high street next month.

The chef is planning an à la carte menu upstairs, a grill menu and bar downstairs, dining space in the garden and a potential barbecue in the summer.

Of the target, £5,634 has been raised, with the campaign due to end on 28 January. Rewards for investors include masterclasses, tasting menu dinners and lunches, and wedding catering.
