Launch of Nobu Hotel London Portman Square confirmed for July

London’s second Nobu hotel will open in July, its owner L+R and operator Nobu Hospitality have confirmed.

Reservations are now being taken for the 249-bedroom Nobu Hotel London Portman Square, which marks the third collaboration between L+R and Nobu Hospitality, the lifestyle brand founded by Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper, following the launch of the Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay and Nobu Restaurant Monte Carlo.

The hotel previously operated as the Radisson Blu Portman Square and before that was the Portman InterContinental.

The announcement of the opening date coincided with confirmation that the group's Berkeley Street restaurant will close on 23 March.

The design of the restaurant, bar, lobby and 600-people capacity ballroom by David Collins Studio and the bedrooms by Make Architects have been influenced by aJapanese minimalist aesthetic. Room rates will start from £345.

Desmond Taljaard, managing director, L+R, said: “The opening of Nobu Hotel London Portman Square marks another successful collaboration with Nobu Hospitality and will be a hallmark opening for both brands - in one of the capital’s most sought-after cultural districts.”

L+R's portfolio of hotels includes the Iconic Luxury Hotels collection, which comprises Chewton Glen, Cliveden House and the Lygon Arms, as well as a wider group of independent hotels and collection of 48 Holiday Inn Express properties.

In London Nobu Hospitality operates the Shoreditch Nobu hotel, which opened in 2017, and two standalone Nobu restaurants, both in Mayfair: Nobu at the Como Metropolitan hotel in Old Park Lane, which opened in 1997, followed by a site on Berkeley Street eight years later. However, it was reported last week that the Berkeley Street site is set to close.
