No. Fifty Cheyne to open with Jason Atherton protégé in the kitchen

Restaurant No. Fifty Cheyne is set to open on London's Chelsea Embankment, overseen by former Social Eating House and Sosharu head chef Iain Smith.

The former Cheyne Walk Brasserie will relaunch in February following a nine-month renovation, overseen by Sally Greene, founding director of the Old Vic Theatre and proprietor of Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London's Soho. Greene originally opened the brasserie in 2003.

The site is owned by the Bourne family, and F&B director at Bourne Capital Peter Horton will work alongside Smith and venue manager Benoit Auneau on the menu, cocktail list and wine offerings. He described it as a "local restaurant that's a destination for everyone".

Set across two floors, the restaurant will offer British cuisine, focusing on an open grill. Dishes will include belted Galloway beef ragout with spatzli, spicy sausage and rose harissa; and Cornish monkfish, roscoff onion and potato straws with roast chicken broth as well as roasts on Sundays.

Head chef Smith said: "I'm really looking forward to showing Chelsea and hopefully the rest of London how my enjoyment and passion for my craft shows in all the menus."

The site, which has been designed by Lambert and Brown, will feature a 70-cover restaurant in the ground floor, a 28-cover, semi-private dining room, a 50-cover cocktail bar and a ‘drawing room' on the first floor.
