New restaurants, hotels and bars opening in January 2025

Here’s all the latest hospitality venues set to launch across the UK in January 2025

We’ve selected a few of the hottest January openings to get us through a cold start to 2025.

 

Veterans of the industry, such as Jackson Boxer and Clove Club founder Isaac McHale, are serving the likes of lemon and ricotta dumplings with lobster cream (Dove) and sausage rolls with greengage ketchup (Bar Valette) at their new restaurants, while relative newcomers, such as the Salad Project and the Montgomery Group, are expanding their footprint across the sector.

Zima Notting Hill, London

 

Zima in London’s Soho has expanded into Notting Hill to bring its signature Russian and Eastern European dishes to the foodie neighbourhood. The restaurant from the late Russian chef Alexei Zimin displays a selection of vodkas that have been infused in-house, while diners can partake in an art programme designed to broaden their cultural knowledge.

Typical dishes Pelmeni sibirskiye handmade “dumpings” with beef and chicken, served with bouillon and sour cream; black pelmeni with salmon and cod handmade “dumplings” with salmon roe and roasted tomatoes

Bar Valette, Shoreditch, London

 

Isaac McHale, co-founder of the two Michelin-starred Clove Club, is set to open a more informal restaurant in London’s Shoreditch. Bar Valette takes over the space once occupied by Two Lights and offers a menu that takes inspiration from Southern French and Spanish cuisine. Some items from the Clove Club’s back catalogue will also be joining the menu.

Bat and Ball, Oxfordshire

 

Ben Moss’s Montgomery Group has launched the Bat and Ball, a pub with rooms in Cuddesdon, Oxfordshire. Guests staying in its five rooms will have a taste of head chef Rick Owens’s food. Guests can stay in a king suite, king room or smaller double.

Dove, Notting Hill, London

 

Chef Jackson Boxer is replacing his seafood restaurant Orasay in London’s Notting Hill with Dove, which serves the dishes that he “wants to cook and eat right now”. These include the likes of roast chicken, fennel and blood orange; fried pizzette, burrata, ham and fior di latte soft serve, evoo and caviar supplement.

The Dark Horse, Camden, London

 

Stephen Tozer and Ed Brunet of Le Bab and Kebab Queen have designed the menu behind newly launched London pub the Dark Horse in Camden stable block. The venue also hosts regular live music nights and guest performances, paying homage to the pair’s Tape London music business.

Don’t Tell Dad, Queen’s Park, London

 

Coco Di Mama co-founder Daniel Land is set to launch neighbourhood bakery and restaurant Don’t Tell Dad in London’s Queen’s Park in collaboration with head baker Keren Sternberg and head chef Luke Frankie. It will offer pastries and sandwiches by day and French and British-inspired dishes by night.

Shakara, Fitzrovia, London

 

Ayo Adeyemi, the former executive chef of the Michelin-starred Akoko in London’s Fitzrovia, has joined forces with head chef and MasterChef: The Professionals semi-finalist Victor Okunowo to support the launch of Shakara, a contemporary West African restaurant in London’s Marylebone, as consultant chef.

Typical dishes Corn-fed chicken supreme with roasted Roscoff onions and onion purée

Salad Project Bond Street, London

 

The Salad Project has launched its eighth site in London’s Bond Street as the salad purveyor continues to expand rapidly across the capital. Its latest site has been designed by architect Rain Wu and places an emphasis on customer flow. The brand opened its first store in 2021 and has set eyes on 20 sites by mid-2027.

Leigh’s, De Beauvoir, London

 

Le Cordon Bleu-trained Melanie Clarke and McKenzie Amaral are launching Leigh’s café in London’s De Beauvoir, which will offer a selection of fresh sandwiches, soups and treats showcasing producers such as La Fromagerie and Cobble Lane Cured, alongside drinks from coffee supplier Formative Coffee.
