Native to relocate to bigger premises in south London

After three years in Neal's Yard, Covent Garden, Native restaurant will move south of the river to a new, larger premises in Borough.

On Monday The Caterer reported that Native would close its Covent Garden restaurant on 19 May, it has since been revealed that its new 60-cover Southwark Street restaurant will open on 5 June.

Chef-patron Ivan Tisdall-Downes and business partner Imogen Davis had opened the Neal's Yard restaurant in February 2016, after a year as a pop-up.

The River Cottage alumni have said the new restaurant will continue their goals of celebrating British produce, zero waste, and a respect for the natural environment.

The daily-changing menu will have a strong focus on game featuring familiar dishes such as fallow deer with caramelised cauliflower and carrot top salsa verde as well as fermented truffle potato risotto with tamari and spenwood.

Native's ‘chef's wasting snacks' - a selection of canapés made from produce such as fish skins and potato peelings that would often be discarded - will also move south of the river.

The new restaurant will have a dedicated bar area offering a seasonal cocktail list and a concise selection of European wines.

Native will open Tuesday to Saturday, 12.30pm to 2.30pm for lunch and 6pm to 10pm for dinner.
