London’s long-standing vegetarian restaurant group Mildreds is to launch a new concept in Borough Market this autumn.
The restaurant, named Mallow, will be a one-off opening opposite Southwark Cathedral at 1 Cathedral Place run exclusively for the market.
It will be fully plant-based, serving small and large plates, meat-free burgers and desserts, with many ingredients sourced from nearby traders.
Mallow will open early morning for breakfast until the evening with a menu of vegan wines, beers and cocktails.
The menu has been designed by Sarah Wasserman, who is head of food development for Mildreds and co-wrote both of the restaurant’s cookbooks with executive chef Daniel Acevedo.
Sam Anstey, managing director at Mildreds, said: “We can’t wait to bring the new Mallow concept to Borough Market, we’re excited to join its fantastic community of traders and restaurants who have made the market an iconic food destination across London’s food scene.
“We hope to bring a truly unique dining experience to the area, with Mildreds’ famous 100% plant-based offering on an elevated scale, whilst incorporating produce from Borough Market traders where possible.”
Mildreds was founded in 1988 and runs four restaurants in London’s Soho, Camden, King’s Cross and Dalston.
