Michelin-starred Cellar in Fife up for sale

The chef-owner of the Michelin-starred Cellar in Fife has decided to sell the restaurant after 10 years of trading.

Billy Boyter, who was formerly head chef at the Michelin-starred Number One in Edinburgh, took over the Cellar from Scottish chef Peter Jukes upon his death in 2013.

The Cellar in the East Neuk of Fife reopened in 2014 and received its Michelin star the following year.

Boyter posted on X: “After a lot of thought and consideration, my family and I have decided it’s the right time for us to sell the Cellar. It’s been an amazing 10 years, and I’m so proud of what we’ve created in our time here.

“I’d like to thank all of our amazing suppliers. We could have never achieved what we did without you. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with you all. And, of course, thank you to all of our amazing guests, some of whom we now regard more as friends. We’ll miss all of you. Thank you so much for being part of the journey.”

He said restaurant would be in touch with guests who had paid deposits and to offer refunds on vouchers.

In a tweet from December 2023, Boyter revealed the business was paying “almost £3,000 per month” since utilities costs were increased.
