Michel Reybier Hospitality buys L’oscar London

Michel Reybier Hospitality has announced its acquisition of the 39-bedroom Holborn boutique hotel L’oscar London.

The hotel, which was designed by architect Jacques Garcia and opened in 2018, is the group’s first hotel outside France and Switzerland. The group also owns the AlpenGold hotel, Hotel Monte Rosa, Crans Ambassador, the Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel and Spa, the Mont Cervin Palace, the Schweizerhof Zermatt and La Réserve hotels in Geneva, Paris and Zurich.

Part of the Grade II*-listed L’oscar London was once a Baptist Church and was built in 1856 in the Victorian style. Between 1901 and 1903 the building was extended to become the headquarters of the Baptist Church in England.

Previously owned by Triangle Hotels and Resorts, L'oscar opened following a £40m refurbishment, named in tribute to writer Oscar Wilde, and was expected to be the first of a number of L'oscar-branded hotels.

The London property was hoped to become the flagship of a collection of 10 L'oscar hotels by 2028.
