McDonald’s hit by more shortage woes

McDonald’s is understood to be experiencing pressures across its supply chain, impacting a small number of menu items at certain restaurants.

Metro has published a photo reportedly taken in a south London branch of McDonald’s which warned “some menu items may be served with some ingredients missing and others may be temporarily unavailable” due to supply shortages.

The fast food chain has been hit by multiple supply chain issues over the last year, which saw it temporarily forced to remove its Chicken Legend from delivery menus across the UK and Ireland last year as well as removing bottled drinks and milkshakes from the menu across restaurants in England, Scotland and Wales. Groups like Nando's, Greggs and KFC have also reported supply problems.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has particularly impacted supplies of sunflower oil, wheat and fertilisers, with frozen potato giant McCain Foods GB & Ireland announcing that it will use a blend of rapeseed oil and sunflower oil from this month in response to global shortages of sunflower oil.
