Chef Danielle Heron said Osma in Prestwich village will be closing next month ahead of a planned move to the city centre.
MasterChef: The Professionals 2024 star Danielle Heron and Sofie Stoermann-Naess have confirmed they will be closing their Manchester restaurant Osma next month after almost five years of trading.
The pair opened the restaurant – named after their respective home cities Oslo and Manchester – in 2020 in Prestwich village.
Heron previously worked as a commis chef at the two- (now three-) Michelin-starred L’Enclume in Cartmel before moving to Oslo to cook at the likes of Maaemo and Piscoteket.
Osma was listed on the Michelin Guide within its first year and praised for offering “chatty, genuine service” alongside a “mightily appealing seasonal menu”.
In a message on Instagram, the owners said: “It’s with a heavy heart, but excitement for the future, that we have decided to close our Prestwich restaurant ahead of a move to the city centre.
“Being fully transparent – we’ve struggled to find experienced staff, leaving us with little to no personal life. We have made the decision to move on to what we hope will be a more sustainable business that can grow, and allow us more time to follow our dreams.
"This is by no means the end of Osma. We’re optimistic, but it’s bittersweet. After (almost!) five years we have met so many amazing and incredible people, who we’re proud to call our friends and Osma family. So many of you have kept coming back week after week – we feel honoured and so grateful for your company.”
Osma’s last day of service will be 9 February, though its residency at Exhibition on Peter Street in Manchester will remain open as usual.
Gift cards bought after 9 February will be refunded to the original payment method or extended to use at Osma’s new site.
