Alex Webb, the 2020 winner of MasterChef: The Professionals, is to launch a pop-up at alfresco dining venue Number One Park Lane at London’s InterContinental Park Lane hotel on 3 May.
He will serve an assortment of British sharing plates, with an emphasis on native seafood and creative alcohol pairings, until his residency ends on 28 July.
The main menu will feature Devon crab and duck scotch egg (£11); confit cod fingers with parsley mayonnaise and kohlrabi (£12); and citrus cured salmon with fennel and tomato consommé (£13), one of Webb’s MasterChef: The Professionals creations.
These will be served alongside Hattingley Valley wines, English Cider from Sandfords Orchards and three signature cocktails inspired by Webb’s menu.
Desserts will include hand-churned salted caramel ice-cream (£6) and 'Party Popper' English strawberries with edible strawberry dust (£10).
The pop-up will raise money for the Roy Castle Cancer Foundation, with all proceeds from the 'Dad’s' bread and whipped butter dish (£5) going to the charity in remembrance of Webb’s late father.
Webb, from Essex, started his cooking career as an apprentice at London’s Savoy and went on to train at Michelin-starred Hélène Darroze at the Connaught; Heston Blumenthal’s Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental; Roux at Parliament Square and the Frog in Hoxton.
At the time of his MasterChef victory, he was head chef at Square 1 in Great Dunmow, Essex.
Webb said: “I’m so excited to be doing my first pop-up residency at Number One Park Lane. The InterContinental hotel is a great partner, and I can’t wait to start cooking here.”
