Mark Greenaway’s London restaurant Pivot to open in Covent Garden

It has been confirmed that Mark Greenaway’s London restaurant, Pivot, will open in Covent Garden, alongside two other restaurants in the same building.

The restaurant, which will open in September, will be located within 3 Henrietta Street, a restored five-storey building built in 1780. The building will also house concepts by Cuban chef Luis Pous and pastry chef Kimberly Lin, as well as a Gentlemen Baristas coffee house.

Pivot, a modern British restaurant, will open on the first floor. It will showcase seasonal produce and have an open kitchen and chef’s counter, with a monthly-changing menu offering four- or six-course set menus.

Greenaway said: “Opening a restaurant in the heart of London is something I have wanted to do for a long time, and 3 Henrietta Street feels like the perfect home for Pivot. The menu will be an expression of the seasons, and we will only be using the best of what is available at any time – hence why the menu ‘pivots’ every month. I really can’t wait to welcome people into the restaurant and get going!”

Taking up residence in the basement will be El Ta’Koy, the first UK outpost of Pous’s Miami restaurant, which also has a pop-up at the Dominick hotel in New York. El Ta’Koy is inspired by the Tiki bars of Hawaii and will have 30 covers, a 44-cover terrace space on the piazza across the street, and a menu of small bites, tacos and poke bowls.

Meanwhile, Lilly’s will open in the ground floor conservatory space. The café will be headed by Lin, former head pastry chef at five-star London hotels including the Corinthia and Claridge’s, and development chef for Dominique Ansel. The café is named after 17th-century astrologer William Lilly and will offer cakes and pastries as well as an all-day brunch menu.

Simon Wright, founder of 3 Henrietta Street, said: “3 Henrietta Street is more than just a townhouse, it’s a collective, a hub for the local community, and a place to enjoy and celebrate food, drink and the hospitality industry, especially after what has been a challenging time for all. We have brought together some of the most talented individuals to create a destination like no other; whether you are a visitor to the area, a local, or looking for a quiet place to work – there really will be something for everybody.”

Greenaway previously ran a pop-up with the Gentlemen Baristas in the former Wahlburgers site in Covent Garden. He also oversees Grazing by Mark Greenaway, which he opened at the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – the Caledonian after closing his own eponymous restaurant in the city, and opened a pie and mash shop earlier this year near London's Embankment.
