D&D London has received almost 1,000 applications for a position at its Manchester restaurant 20 Stories in just 24 hours.
A staggering 963 people applied for the receptionist position before the group closed applications due to the unprecedented interest.
Carol Cairnes, D&D London’s director of people, said: “The sheer number of applicants is staggering, we’ve never seen such a large number come through in such a short amount of time. While it means we will have the pick of an incredibly large number of highly qualified candidates, it’s very sad to see how many people are in need of employment. I would love to be able to offer them all the position, but of course that’s just not possible at this time.”
D&D London is not the first to witness increased demand for positions following last month's reports that the number of people out of work in the country had increased by 600,000.
Earlier this week pub operators told The Caterer about a surge in demand for both front and back of house positions.
