Management restructure for Hand Picked Hotels in Jersey

Hand Picked Hotels has announced a restructure of its Jersey team with a regional manager and two hotel management appointments.

 

Simon Miller (centre), general manager of the four-red-AA-star, 106-bedroom L'Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa for the last three years, has taken on the newly-created position of general manager, Jersey.

 

He will assume overall responsibility for both of the group's hotels on the island, the second of which is the five-AA-star, 123-bedroom Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa, which was overseen by general manager Martin Kelly for three years until his departure in September.

 

Miller worked with Esporta Health & Fitness Clubs prior to joining Hand Picked Hotels more than 10 years ago, and has since managed both Brandshatch Place in Kent and New Hall in Birmingham.

 

Shaun McGachan (left) has joined the L'Horizon team as hotel manager overseeing day-to-day operations. He joins the hotel after four years as deputy general manager and most recently interim general manager at Hand Picked Hotels' St Pierre Park property in Guernsey.

 

Thusitha Sumanasekera (right) has joined the Grand Jersey as hotel manager after four years as general manager of the Best Western Plus Dover Marina Hotel & Spa in Kent. He began his career in Dubai at the Marine Beach Resort before relocating to the UK to join Ramada and subsequently Holiday Inn, in food and beverage and operations management.

 

Douglas Waddell, Hand Picked Hotels' operations director, said: "I am delighted to welcome Shaun McGachan and Thusitha Sumanasekera to Jersey and formalise a new management structure with Simon Miller at the helm."

 

Miller added: "I am thrilled to have this opportunity to lead the business in Jersey, a region that drives significant revenue and offers huge opportunity for further growth."

 

Talana Weil has also been appointed deputy general manager at the Grand Jersey hotel after having worked with the company for more than 10 years in a number of operational management roles, including front of house manager at Woodlands Park hotel in Leatherhead, Surrey, and most recently operations manager at Buxted Park in Uckfield, East Sussex.

 

Hand Picked Hotels, created by former lawyer Julia Hands, is an independent group of 20 country house hotels.
