Mamma Dough sold out of administration

South London pizza chain Mamma Dough has been sold out of administration, with five of the seven sites and 47 jobs saved.

Stephen Katz and David Birne of Begbies Traynor were appointed as joint administrators to the company on 20 December 2022 after soaring inflation and energy bills, combined with the impact of the cost-of-living crisis and train strikes on consumer spend and footfall, pushed the business into administration.

Katz said: “We are delighted to have successfully secured a positive outcome for the majority of the staff at Mamma Dough and to enable this previously growing business to continue to operate following one of the toughest periods to be a consumer-facing business.”

The company, founded by Jake Harrison, has been bought by the London Dough Co, led by Emma Willis and Lisa Loebenberg, owner and managing director of Exhibit Bars.

Sites in Brixton, Peckham, Ladywell, Sydenham and South Norwood remain operational, excluding the brand’s former Tooting venue.
