Work is due to begin next year on a 100-bedroom Malmaison hotel in Bournemouth.
It will join 15 other hotels within the Malmaison portfolio, sister brand to Hotel du Vin.
Planning permission was obtained by Fresh Lime Developments (FLD) in May for a mixed-use hotel and apartment scheme on the site of the derelict Belvedere hotel on Bath Road. The hotel will be demolished this month, and the development is expected to take approximately two years to build.
The new hotel will include a Chez Mal bar and brasserie, a rooftop bar and terrace overlooking the seafront, and the brand's ‘Work + Play' meeting and events concept. It will also have a gym, swimming pool and beauty rooms.
Michael Bibring, founding director of FLD, said: "We have always wanted to bring an iconic hotel to this important site and they really don't come much more aspirational than Malmaison with its style panache and unique creativity."
Guus Bakker, chief executive of Malmaison Hotel du Vin, added: "Bournemouth is a fantastic destination. The vibrancy of the town means that it is also a perfect location for the Malmaison brand."
Malmaison is located in Aberdeen, Belfast, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, Oxford, Liverpool, London, Newcastle, Reading, Leeds, Brighton and Cheltenham. Planning permission for a 160-bedroom Malmaison in York was also granted earlier this year.
