Berlin-based Leonardo Hotels has relaunched the 282-bedroom Premier Inn Edinburgh City Centre (Haymarket) under it premier Royal brand.
The hotel was acquired from Whitbread in Otober 2016 from Whitbread and has since undergone an investment of more than £6m. It marks the second UK hotel for the group, which opened the Leonardo Hotel London Heathrow Airport in 2015.
The new interior, designed by Andreas Neudahm, includes Scottish-themed furnishings and bathrooms with giant murals of sheep.
Lucy Basnett, the hotel's operations manager, said: "Our opening brings a new destination in stylish hotel living to Edinburgh. While we are a chain hotel, we are as far removed from a chain hotel as possible.
"Each hotel is designed to be individual, like our guests, and to reflect the surrounding area, using special local touches and features such as a breakfast range distinct to the region. So if you are staying at a Leonardo Hotel in Edinburgh, you will know for sure that you are in Edinburgh."
The Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh takes the portfolio of Leonardo Hotels, which is the European arm of Israeli company Fattal Hotels, to more than 80 hotels in over 40 locations. The company operates hotels under four brands: Leonardo Hotels, Leonardo Royal Hotels, Leonardo Boutique Htoels and NYX Hotels.
